Arequipa
Second city most imprtant in Peru and second biggest one in population ( 1 million and 300
hundred thousand habitants ) its located at 2,325 mts , next to the western range of the andes
form by three volcanoes: Misti ( 5,825 mts) Chachani ( 6,075 mts) and pichupichu ( 5,447 mts).
Know as the White city because the main material of construction call Ignimbrita, that comes
from volcanic tufo, in a wrong way people call this Stone : sillar, but how you cut the Stone ina
a rectangular way , this is a sillar. The historical center was declare world heritage of humnaity
by UNESCO in the 2000, its houses, cobblestone streets, Main Square, the Cathedral, all their
churches, local market San Camilo, Santa Catalina Monastery, Recoleta Convent with one of the
biggest library in Peru, Santa Teresa Monastery. And we talk about its provinces we can find
another beatiful places, like Colca Valley and Canyon, consider the third deepest canyon in the
world. Cotahuasi valley and Canyon with it waterfall Sipia, on both places we can enjoy with the
flying of the andean condor, The Valley of the volcanoes, Andagua with 38 little volcanoes
around, all these places with amazing nature, the National reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca
with protect species like birds, flamingos, teals, avicets, falcons, Hawks and south american
camelids like vicuñas and guanacos. Arequipa is an obligatory stop in Peru.
